TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor said that after being stalled for almost a year, the construction of Sumber Waras Hospital in West Jakarta will be continued.
Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that the project would not be financed under the public-private partnership scheme. “We will coordinate with the Finance Ministry and the central government,” Djarot said at the City Hall on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.
Jakarta regional secretary Saefullah said that the Jakarta administration through the Jakarta Health Agency is in the process of preparing the documents.
According to him, the mechanism will allow the Jakarta administration to work with the private sector to build and manage Sumber Waras Hospital.
Saefullah claimed that the project is important since it is related to the public interest. He added that the number of patients suffering from cancers, heart conditions, lung diseases, and brain diseases is significant. However, most Indonesian people prefer to be treated overseas.
The project worth is estimated to be at Rp5 trillion. The fund will be used to construct buildings and purchase healthcare equipment. However, Saefullah revealed that no investor has yet expressed interest in partnering with the Jakarta administration.
Earlier, the Supreme Audit Agency found irregularities in the purchase of Sumber Waras Hospital land. According to BPK, the price for the land was far more expensive which resulted in Rp191 billion in state losses.
The BPK concluded that the land purchase violated procedures, but the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced that there was no indication of corruption in the land purchase.
