Ministry Calls for Suspension of Truck Operations until July 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the traffic heading to Jakarta increases, the Transportation Ministry has called on truck operators to suspend operations until Sunday, July 2, at 24:00 hours.
Transportation Ministry Budi Karya Sumadi said that the number of vehicles heading to Jakarta has started to increase. It was indicated by vehicle queues on toll roads.

Therefore, the Ministry expects trucks association, Indonesia Logistics and Forwarder Association (ALFI), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and other private firms to re-arrange their truck operation schedule.
“We appreciate that Kadin and truck association have given their support to manage their truck operations during peak traffic to allow more rooms for Eid travelers,” he noted.
The rules limiting the operations of goods vehicles during Eid holidays are effective from June 21 to 29.

Heavy duty vehicles weighing over 14,000 kilograms, goods vehicles with three or more axles, and trailers are not allowed to operate.
Meanwhile, goods vehicles carrying mining materials are not allowed to operate from June 18 to July 3.
The rules apply to all national roads and toll roads in Java and Lampung province.
