Palace Confirms No Salary Increase for President

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Presidential Palace confirms that the president and vice president salaries have not increased.

The message was conveyed by the Presidential Secretariat spokesman Bey Machmudin in a written statement received by Antara news agency today, June 28.

Bey expressed that the rumor of pay increase for President Joko Widodo was false.

The basic monthly salary of the president is Rp30,240,000.

Meanwhile, the basic monthly salary of the vice president is Rp20,160,000.

The amount of allowance received by the president and vice president according to Presidential Decree No. 68/2001 is Rp32,500,000 for president and Rp22,000,000 for vice president.

As such, the amount of income received by the president and vice president remain unchanged since 2001, the spokesman said.
