TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least six people were injured on Sunday after a car ramps up a pavement outside a sports center in Newcastle, England. Two children were among the casualties.
The police believe that the incident is not terrorism-related.
Local media said that at the time of the incident, hundreds were celebrating Eid at the sports center.
"On Sunday June 25, at approximately 9:14 a.m., the Northumbria Police received reports that a vehicle had collided with pedestrians outside of the Westgate Sports Centre, Newcastle," the police released a statement as Reuters reported.
The statement added that the police are still making enquiries to find out what happened exactly, "but at this time, it is not believed to be a terror incident."
The police said a 42-year-old woman had been detained and was in custody.
