TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party deputy chairman Ahmad Riza Patria said that chairman Prabowo Subianto may meet President Jokowi on Eid Holidays.
"I think [they will meet] eventually. At this lebaran (Eid) event, let’s hope so," he said in Jakarta today, June 25.
The House of Representative (DPR) member said that Prabowo always wants to maintain good relationships with all parties. Riza said that Prabowo and President Joko Widodo had met quite often before.
Aside from meeting Jokowi, Prabowo will also pay a visit to other figureheads.
Riza added that Jokowi and Prabowo might also meet political party leaders. "Inshallah," he said.
Calls for a meeting between political parties and the president arise following an impasse at the deliberations on the election bill. One issue on which the DPR factions and the government have yet to agree is the presidential threshold.
Jokowi and Prabowo had earlier at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta and the latter’s house in Hambalang, Bogor.
