TEMPO.CO, Medan - North Sumatra Police has arrested four individuals from various locations in Medan over a terror attack at its guard post.
North Sumatra Inspector General Rycko Amelza Dahniel said that the four of them are currently being interrogated. He could yet reveal the identity of the arrestees.
The attack on an outpost at North Sumatra Police HQ took place at 3:00 am today. A perpetrator is named Syawaluddin Pakpahan. The police have searched Syawaluddin’s home in Medan.

Rycko said that he will continue to investigate the terror ring. Following the search, the police found books about Jihad and suicide attacks. The police suspect that the perpetrator had indoctrinated children nearby to commit suicide.
Earlier, Adj. First Inspector Martua Sigalingging, a member of North Sumatra Police Headquarters, died from getting stabbed by two terror suspects. Martua was on duty at an outpost in the headquarter together with fellow cop Brigadier E. Ginting.
Ginting alerted other officers upon being attacked. A cop shot an attacker who was later identified as Syawaluddin Pakpahan. Another offender with the initials AR was shot dead.
Rycko has instructed police officers to step up security at police headquarters.
