TEMPO.CO, Purbalingga - As many as 999 dulag or beduk (drums) will enliven Eid Dulag Festival 2017 held in takbiran (chanting of God is great) night in Purwakarta, West Java.
"The participants are from government agency/institutions, state-owned companies (BUMN), city-owned enterprises (BUMD), districts, villages and sub-districts and local people," Eid Dulag Festival 2017 committee chairman Hery Anwar said on Saturday, June 24.
The festival will be held along Kolonel Kornel Singawinata street which is a tourism destination of Purwakarta. He is optimistic that the festival in addition to celebrate takbiran night will also attract a lot of local, regional and even international tourists.

"It is because Dulag Festival has been an annual agenda held on takbiran night and it is always packed with visitors," Heri added.
Purwakarta Regent Dedi Mulyadi said that dulag is a legend in Sundanese tradition and culture. That is why Dedi facilitates this drumming tradition.
"This is the eighth edition of the festival," he said.
Dedi also affirmed that this festival has never caused any social problems. This festival also involves religious leaders of Catholic, Protestant, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Konghuchu in order to nurture the values of unity in diversity, he explained.
