TEMPO.CO, Depok - Jakarta Police have urged residents of Jakarta and surrounding areas to not perform Eid takbir (takbiran) parade by using a vehicle.
"It is better to do takbiran in nearby small mosques or mosques," Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Muhammad Iriawan said on Friday, June 23.
Iriawan added that hitting the road to perform takbiran has more disadvantages, let alone if it is done by using a pickup as it endangers lives.

Iriawan also offered an alternative to celebrate the evening of Eid takbir.
"A beduk (a big drum) festival will be held in Jakarta. As many as 49 beduk communities set in line to perform on takbiran night," he said.
In the meantime, deputy mayor of the neighboring city Depok, Pradi Supriatna, also urged his residents to not hit the road to perform takbiran parade.
"It is better to come to Depok City hall mosque," he said.
