TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian motorcycle racer Dimas Ekky Pratama finished third in race one during the second round of the CEV Moto2 International Championship on Sunday, June 18, held at the Catalunya Circuit, Barcelona.
The 24-year-old marks the first time an Indonesian motorcycle racer step foot on the last podium position at a race held on European soil. Ekky finished 11 seconds behind the winner, Spaniard Ricky Cardus, and six seconds behind the runner-up, Brazilian Eric Granado.
Dimas Ekky currently races for the Astra Honda Racing Team (AHRT) that utilizes the Kalex chassis.
“I’m really happy. Everybody’s hard work finally ended up at the podium. After the race in Albacete, I trained hard to be able to control the motorcycle. We had difficulties in finding the right setup under the hot and sunny weather. But we finally found the correct setup during the warm-up session,” said Dimas Ekky.
The 2017 CEV International Championship will hold seven races starting from April 30, at Albacete circuit in Spain. Dimas Ekky finished fifth. The next race will take place on July 9, 2017, at the Valencia circuit.
This championship is considered to be the stepping stone before entering the international Moto2 series included in the MotoGP calendar.
