TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hits Sukabumi, West Java, today at 6:15 am. The epicenter of the quake was at 8.36 degrees south latitude and 106.18 degrees east longitude. The quake was felt by some Jakartans.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) website reproted that the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km, 179 km southwest of Sukabumi City.
The epicenter of the quake was 187 km southwest of Sukabumi district, 199 km southwest of Lebak, Banten, 226 km southwest of Bandung and 253 km southwest of Jakarta.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
