TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police have declared a state of high alert in the wake of the attacks in Kampung Melayu Bus Station, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The East Nusa Tenggara Police on Friday, May 26, held a morning assembly to prepare to anticipate for possible after-attacks, "so that the NTT police force stay alert, and not underestimate any type of development," said Sr. Comm. Rudi Kristantyo, Head of the NTT Police's Operations Bureau.
Police are tightening security around places of worships, and officers are deployed to patrol the city of Kupang. The bombing squad also searched the Marantha Kupang Church to search for explosives.
On Wednesday, two men detonated what are suspected to be pressure cooker bombs at Kampung Melayu bus terminal. The blast killed three police officers and two suicide bombing suspects, and injured at least 15 people.
The Police said that the bombers are members of the Bandung terrorist network which links to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria militant group.
