TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is set to face India today in the world mixed team badminton championship Sudirman Cup 2017 in Gold Coast, Australia. The national team arrived in Gold Cost on Thursday and held the last training session on Monday evening, May 22.
“The team is ready to fight; having been here for three days, the players are ready,” Chef de Mission Achmad Budiharto said.
Indonesia joins Group 1D with India and Denmark. In the first match, India lost 4-1 to Denmark.
Achmad said that India did not play their best against Denmark. “Having seen the player composition, it seems that way,” he said. “They only played their best player in woman’s singles. Maybe it was part of their strategy before facing Indonesia.”
Achmad, however, stressed that he was not worried about it. “The Indonesian team is ready. We will not waver; we will play the best players so Indonesia can win against India,” he said.
The national team captain Mohammad Ahsan said that he and his compatriots are ready to fight.
He said that he is not concerned about his opponents. “The most important thing is to fight; we don’t want to think about who our opponents are, who are stronger or weaker; we are ready to fight,” Ahsan said.
