TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) marketing director Andayani Budi Lestari said that 7.9 million Jakarta residents are already listed in the BPJS program.
“[Jakarta residents registered in the BPJS program] now account for 80 percent,” Andayani said in Jakarta on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Both the central government and Jakarta administration will cover payments of BPJS customers. The central government will cover health care subsidies for 4.8 million people, and 3.6 million others will be covered by the Jakarta administration.
According to Andayani, BPJS Kesehatan will focus on expanding its reach to attract more customers, in a bid to realize the universal health coverage. One way to achieve the goal is to involve village offices in registering residents in the program.
“We expect 100 percent of Jakartans will be listed as BPJS customers by 2019,” Andayani said.
This healthcare service is not exclusively for residents holding Jakarta identity cards (KTP), but it is also available for those who live in Jakarta with non-Jakarta identity cards.
