The president said that the Indonesian automotive industry has experienced significant growth. In addition to investment that continues to improve, the level of product competitiveness is also quite satisfactory.
Jokowi asks all automotive manufacturers to boost exports in order to compete in the global market.
"Indeed our automotive market is huge, but an increase in exports is needed to balance the size of the domestic market to appeal investment," he said.
Today, the gap between the domestic and global market is too wide. According to the Industry Ministry, domestic sales reached 1.1 million units while export is only about 200,000 units.
