Speedboat Carrying Kindergarten Students Sinks in West Kalimantan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A speedboat carrying a group of kindergarten students sank in Silat River in Nanga Lungu village, Silat Hulu district, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimatan on Saturday morning (22/4).
In the accident which took place at 08.30 in the morning, six people were reported drowned, four of which are kindergarten students. The victims are Ratna (46), Juliana (44), Desti (4), Andi (3), Paskaliana (5), and Randi (4).
"The group consisting of 33 people were going to participate in kindergarten students’ competition in Nanga Dangkan, the center of Silat Hulu district. However, on the way there, the speedboat they rode sank," Nanga Lungu village chief Joni said.
Joni explained that the speedboat sank due to the strong current of the river. Out of the six victims, only one victim Randi (4) was found and the other five victims still could not be found. The police have not released any statement on this accident.
