TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mount Sinabung in Karo Regency, North Sumatera, is erupting again. The volcano has been seen spewing volcanic ashes since midnight on Friday, April 14.
M Nurul Asrori a staff at the Sinabung Monitoring post of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) told Antara that since the early hours of Friday, Mount Sinabung has erupted four times.
The first eruption happened at 00:57 local time, spewing volcanic ashes up to some 2,000 meters high. The second eruption was at 07:23, and the third at 08:09.
The latest eruption was at 09:11 WIB am, but the height of its volcanic ash spout had dropped to 800 meters.
"In this morning's eruption, there were no hot clouds," he said.
The day before, (4/13), Mount Sinabung showed intensifying volcanic activities that resulted in incandescent lava, seen burning in the summit crater.
The PVMBG is applying a 3 kilometers "red zone" perimeter, prohibiting anyone to enter the area.
