TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Air Transport for the Transportation Ministry said that 523 airplanes will be deployed for Eid Al-Fitr holiday exodus this year.
“Some 523 airplanes are ready to operate in 35 airports and seven international airports to serve those wishing to return to their hometown,” said Agus Santoso, the Director General of Air Transport, at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, April 3, 2017.
The airplanes are operated by 14 airlines. The ministry has set a service period starting May 15 to June 10 for 2017 Eid, or locally known as Lebaran, exodus.
He said that the peak Eid holiday exodus by airplane is expected to take place between May 22 and June 2. He expects to see 10 percent increase in domestic air travel and eight percent rise in international air travel.
“Additional flights will accommodate the increases,” he aside.
