TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has decided to relocate the National Sport Museum to an area near Bung Karno sport stadium in Senayan, South Jakarta.
The museum was previously located at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta.
“I am glad because the Sport and Youth Ministry realizes that the museum is an important part in the history of world sport and decided to relocate it to areas near Bung Karno stadium, which is the center of the national sport activities,” said Herman Chaniago, Head of the Natinal Sport Musuem.
"The new building for the museum is now under renovation and is expected to be completed before the 2018 Asian Games,” Herman added.
Herman added that ideally, the museum should be located in a strategic location, accessible and near sport centers like Senayan area, where the Bung Karno stadium is located.
