TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dumai respor police has arrested three men who were allegedly involved in human trafficking in Dumai, Riau province.
The three men allegedly often smuggled Bangladeshi to Dumai before they are sent to Malaysia.
"Two suspects are Indonesian, the other is Bangladeshi,” said Chief of Dumai Resort Police Adj. Comr. Donald Happy Ginting on Saturday (25/3).
According to Donald, this case is the development of the previous case revealed by Dumai police on Friday(19/2). At that time, the police found 74 Bangladeshi people in a rented house owned Sugeng Riadi and Sugiarto.
From the result of the checking of the documents, the police found that the visas of 31 of those Bangladeshi have expired. Sugeng and Sugiarto have been sentenced to three years in prison.
"In the meantime, the Bangladeshi have been deported to their country,” Donald said.
