TEMPO.CO, Karanganyar - Indonesian Child Protection Agency Chairman Seto Mulyadi showed his appreciation for the Police in revealing the pedophilia case in Karanganyar, Central Java. He highlighted the swift handling of the case.

“We appreciate [the quick reaction], especially the victim’s school,” Seto said on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He viewed that the victim’s school contributed a large portion in revealing the pedophilia case.

The case came to light when one of the victims confessed to a teacher about the sexual abuse he experienced. School management then contacted the victim’s family and reported the case to the police.

Police followed up the report by questioning the victim and searching for initial evidence. In less than one day, police succeeded in arresting the suspect.

“Police have handled it really swiftly,” Seto said.

Seto hopes that the suspect will receive a harsh punishment. Especially, considering that the suspect’s victims reached up to 16 people. “There must be a substantial weight in punishment, such as castration, chip implants, life sentence, even death sentence,” he said.

Seto also reminded the public to always be aware of similar criminal cases. “Sexual abuse doesn’t only happen to little girls,” he said. In this particular case, all of the victims were boys.

Police arrested Fajar, a Karanganyar resident who is highly suspected to have conducted the sexual abuse towards 16 boys. He conducted the crime throughout the period of 2003 up to 2016.
