TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysia deported 146 troubled Indonesians on February 22 over various violations such as illegal entry, the lack of passport and stay permit violations.
“They departed from Pasir Gudang Port in Johor to Tanjung Pinang [Riau Islands],” Immigration Office spokesman Agung Sampurna said yesterday.
According to him, the 146 Indonesians were detained in separate locations before being deported. Some 59 Indonesians, including one child and 15 women, were detained in Tanah Merah detention camp, Kelantan. Machap Umboo detention camp housed 50 persons, including one child and 14 women.
Meanwhile, Ajil detention camp in Terengganu housed 37 Indonesians, including 7 children and 9 women.
After arriving in Tanjung Pinang, some went back to their homes while others went to their relatives’ homes on Riau Islands.
