TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Search and Rescue Agency Office of Mataram found the body of a French tourist who went missing in West Lombok. Nicolas, the 39 years-old man, drowned and went missing when diving at the waters of Gili Panggang Sekotong on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Nicolas' body was found at 09:30 am local time today at 15 meters beneath the sea surface.
"Two divers found his body," the Mataram SAR Office spokesman Putu Cakranegara said on Friday, February 17, 2017.
The victim and his two friends, Julian (29) and Benjamin (42), went diving and spearfishing at Gili Sekotong Bake at around 08:00 am yesterday. They were also accompanied by two guides, Muhammad (27), Purwono Galina (22), and a fisherman named Budi (35).
According to Cakranegara, the victims' friends said that at about 12:00 Nicolas got swept by the current. They tried to help but Nicolas disappeared under water due to swift currents.
The incident was reported to the police and the SAR Office. The SAR team then sent a rescue team to the spot. Nicolas' body was found on the second day by divers.
