20th Century Fox to Produce Movie about Local Legend Wiro Sableng

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Actor Vino G. Bastian has been given leading role of Indonesian legend the ‘212 Warrior’ in the movie Wiro Sableng 212, an adaptation of the novel written by his father Bastian Tito.
“The big family of the late Bastian Tito had long been expecting to reintroduce Wiro Sableng 212 to the millennials,” Vino stated in a press release received by the news agency Antara. Vino expects the Indonesian native superhero to create a legacy.
The script will be written by Sheila Timothy, Tumpal Tampubolon and Seno Gumira Ajidarma. Angga Dwimas Sasongko will become the director. Actresses Marsha Timothy and Sherina Munaf will also feature in the movie.
Indonesian production house Lifelike Pictures and Fox International Productions (FIP), a division of 20th Fox Film Corporation, had signed an agreement to produce the movie.
Wiro Sableng is Indonesia’s longest lasting martial art book series, comprising of 185 titles written in a 39-year span (1967-2006). Each book has sold hundreds of thousand copies. Some even hit a million copies.
Wiro Sableng has a huge, loyal fanbase in Indonesia. The colossal martial art comedy movie will be produced this year and expected to premiere next year.
