TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned electricity company must immediately convert solar to cheaper, more efficient and more environmentally friendly energy for its power plants, an analyst at the Indonesian Political Economic Association (AEPI) Salamuddin Daeng said.
According to Salamuddin, the use of solar through diesel power plant (PLTD), so far has been prove not efficient and can bring financial losses to the company.
"The fast is that solar price is higher than gas and coal prices. But of course, we don’t want to use coal because it’s not environmentally friendly,” he added.
Salamuddin also urged PLN to change the paradigm of the fuel provision management for its power plants and urged all parties to end the use of expensive energy that is not environmentally friendly.
In the meantime, Salamdin also urged the government, in this case Energy and Mineral Resources andUpstream Oil and Gas regulatory special task force (SKK Migas), to prioritize gas supply to PLN.
