TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two drug convicts have reportedly esaped from Batu Class I Penitentiary in Nusa Kambangan island, Cilacap regency, Central Java.
When contacted on Saturday, Head of Batu Penitentiary Abdul Aris confirmed the report and said that a joint team is now searching for the two inmates.
"The search effort also involves Cilacap resort police, Cilacap military district, the Air Force, and the people,” he said, adding that the officials have also spread photos and identities of the two inmates.
The two inmates who escaped the prison are identified as M Husein (43) and Syarjani Abdullah (40). They escaped from the prison on Saturday at 2 pm.
