Police Still Probing Alleged Insult to StateFlag During FPI Rally

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police are still investigating the case of alleged insult to a state symbol (Indonesia`s national flag) during a rally staged by hardline the Islamic Defender Front (FPI) in front of the headquarter of the national police as shown in a video uploaded through social media.
The police have not only questioned NF, a young man who brought a flag with the Arabic script, but also questioned a number of other witnesses.
"We have also questioned other witnesses. Theere are four witnesses that we have questioned,” said Spokesperson of the Jakarta Police Comr. Sr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono on Saturday (21/1).
Those four witnesses, Argo said, are among FPI mass who took part in the rally demanding the dismissal of Chief of the West Java police.
NF, a young man carrying the red-and-white flag stamped with sword images and Arabic, was arrested in Pasar Minggu, on Thursday evening. The video was allegedly taken during FPI’s rally in front of the police headquarter on Monday last week.
NF may be charged with Law Number 24 of 2009 on Flag, Language and State Symbol as well as National Anthem for his action.
