TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign tourist visiting Ciater Hot Spring, Subang, West Java, are predominantly from Europe. “Particularly the Netherlands, German and New Zealand,” PT Sari Ater Public Relations manager Yuki Azuania told Tempo in Ciater on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
Moreover, Yuki said that Ciater has seen increased number of visitors from Middle Eastern countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, surpassing that of Asian countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea.
“It’s a surprising trend, but is welcomed nonetheless,” Yuki said. Saudi Arabian tourists see Ciater as heaven on earth due to its natural landscape, exotic mountains and cold temperature, unlike the Middle East.
A Saudi Arabian tourist Sadeq said last week, “I feel like I’m in heaven. Ciater is jannah [which means heaven in Arabic] for us,” he said while giving the thumbs up.
Growing number of foreign tourist arrivals in Ciater has helped develop the halal-certified tourist attraction.
Yuki said that high volume of flights and Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road completion have boosted tourist arrivals in Ciater.
“There will be more when Kertajati Airport in Majalengka and Patimban international port construction are completed,” Yuki said. He said that hundreds of thousands of tourists visited Ciater throughout 2016.
