TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) provided two suggestion to help the tax amnesty program. Both of the suggestions were based on the monitoring conducted by HIPMI Tax Center for the last five months throughout 25 Indonesian provinces.
According to Chairman of HIPMI's Central Governing Body (BPP) Bahlil Lahadaia, taxpayers with arrears are allowed to participate in tax amnesty up to March 31, 2017, "but should be provided with extra time to repay principle tax arrears until December 31, 2017."
The suggestion was made based on the fact that many taxpayers who wishes to participate in the tax amnesty program are being constrained by cash flow. Limited cash flow often forces taxpayers to settle their debts before participating in the tax amnesty program.
"Many taxpayers understand about their responsibility, but on the other hand, they need to keep doing business and continue to provide contribution to the nation's economy," HIPMI's Tax Center Chairman Ajib Hamdani said on Monday, January 2, 2017.
The second suggestion is to have an investment policy for non-active companies to be erased from the category of additional wealth subject to tax amnesty, followed by establishing a specific criteria and requirement on who would receive this facility.
