TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo conducted a field inspection of the athletes' dormitory project for Asian Games 2018 in Kemayoran, Jakarta on Thursday, December 29, 2016.
President Jokowi expected the dormitory construction to be completed by September 2017. Jokowo said that 5,400 flats have been allocated to Asian Games participants. "It's in good condition, only need to be completed," Jokowi said.
The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry has prepared 10 tower blocks in Kemayoran as part of national strategic project acceleration. Built on 10 hectares of land, the structure cost Rp3.4 trillion.
As for athletes' dormitory, the government will only provide two blocks: C2 and D10. Bloc C2 will consist of three towers with 1,932 flats. Block D10 will consist of seven towers with 5,494 flats.
A flat type 36 will have two bedrooms, a guest room, a kitchen and a bathroom. It will have a capacity of 3 persons maximum.
In all, the two tower blocks will be able to house 22,278 occupants.
After Asian Games 2018, the flats will be offered to the middle and lower middle class segments of Jakarta population. Also present during the inspection were State Secretariat Minister Pratikno, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi.
Meanwhile in Palembang, the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (Inasgoc) first deputy team continues to conduct monitoring on South Sumatra’s readiness to host Asian Games 2018.
In general, the team foresees that Jakabaring Sport City project will be completed on schedule. The team, however, noticed that the arena's Sport Science Center, located right in front of athletes' dormitory, lacks supporting facilities.
"As for Sport Science Center facilities, addition will be needed, such as fitness equipment," Inasgoc first deputy Raja Parlindungan Pane said on Thursday, December 29, 2016.
According to Raja, additional facilities will not only be provided for foreign athletes, but also domestic ones. He has instructed local committee to coordinate with relevant ministries.
