TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of train passengers in Yogyakarta during the 2016 Christmas holiday had only reached 29,521 people, three percent lower when compared to that in 2015 with 30,444 passengers.
"The peak was on Christmas yesterday," Eko Budiyanto, spokesperson of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operation Region (Daop) IV Yogyakarta, said on Monday, December 26, 2016.
Eko explained that, cumulatively speaking, the number of train passengers at Yogyakarta train stations from December 23 to December 25 reached 86,003 people, declining by eight percent when compared to the same period last year.
"There was no delay. The number declined because the holiday was short," Eko added.
Liza Anindya Rahmadiani, spokesperson of PT Angkasa Pura I operating Adisutjipto Airport in Yogyakarta, said that the number of arrivals on December 25, 2016 stood at 10,903. The figure declined when compared to last year at 11,135. However, the number of departures stood at 9,448 passengers, which was higher than that last year at 8,886 passengers.
"The number of plane arrivals was 77, increasing from last year at 73. The number of departures also increased to 78 from 73 last year," Liza revealed.
