TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has officially opened the National Asset Management Agency (LMAN) to operate under the Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN).

Sri Mulyani explained that the LMAN received funds from the government in the form of state capital injection (PMN) worth Rp16 trillion (US$1.2 billion) this year to procure land in a bid to support national strategic projects.

“Previously, the Public Works and Public Housing handled the procurement. Now, the LMAN has the money to procure lands for national strategic projects,” she said at the Finance Ministry in Jakarta on Friday, December 23, 2016.

The Minister revealed that state assets would be depreciated if land procurement budgets were handled by ministries and institutions. The government, she said, wanted to utilize state assets to generate economic values.

Sri Mulyani asserted that added values to be received by the LMAN must not be smaller than the return on debt papers received by the government.

“The minimum return is the debt papers that I have to pay for. But it can be higher,” she said.

Finance Ministry’s director general of state assets Sonny Loho said that the Rp16 trillion worth of funds would be earmarked to develop 95 toll road segments. In 2017, the LMAN allocated funds to acquire lands for 50 national strategic projects.
