TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police sent 500 extra personnel to help the victims of the earthquake that hit Pidie Jaya, Aceh. A 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook Pidie Jaya on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at around 05.00 a.m. Indonesia Western Time.
“There is around 500 personnel of Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and Medical and Health Center (Pusdokkes) equipped with health and DVI equipment,” said the Indonesian National Police Chief of Public Information, Comr. Martinus Sitompul on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
Martin said that currently, there is 200 Brimob personnel on aid duty in Pidie. “They conduct search for victims and help treat the injured.” The search activity will also be continued, he added.
