Police Chief Share Stage with FPI`s Rizieq at Jakarta Rally

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police chief General Tito Karnavian and his subordinates will partake in today`s Jakarta rally, dubbed “Aksi Super Damai 212” (Super Peaceful Action 212). “Police chief will be present and join the mass prayer,” Police Public Relations Division chief Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar told Tempo before the event.
Tito arrived at 8:15 am. He wore police suit and black hat. Tito was accompanied by Jakarta Metro Police chief Insp. Gen. Mochamad Iriawan and Boy Rafli. They took the stage situated northeast of the National Monument (Monas) intersection.
On the stage, Police chief sat behind the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Ulema Council Fatwa (GNPF MUI) senior advisor Rizieq Shihab. Also present were the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) secretary general Munarman, the GNPF MUI chairman and religious figure Arifin Ilham.
The Aksi Super Damai will feature mass prayer, dhikr (remembrance of God) and concluded with mass Friday prayer. The action is slated to end at 1 pm. Thousands of people have already flocked to the National Monument area.
