Activist Sri Bintang Arrested for Allegedly Planning Coup

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police have arrested activist, founder of the Indonesian Democratic Union Party Sri Bintang Pamungkas at his house in Cibubur, Depok, on Friday, December 2, 2016, for allegedly planning a coup.
Speaking in a phone interview, Sri Bintang’s spouse Erlania said that dozens of police officers claiming to be personnel of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) arrived at her house at 6 am local time. “There were dozens of Brimob [personnel] from the Local Police who came here. They said the allegation against my husband was coup plot, to take over the Republic of Indonesia,” she said.
Ernalia said that her husband was taken to Brimob Command HQ in Kelapa Dua Depok.
