Depok Adopts Panic Button System to Tackle Street Crimes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok Police Precinct chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Herry Kurniawan said that he will focus on tackling rising street crimes in the outskirts of the city.
Herry, known as Heriemen, will adopt panic button system to connect police with locals for when they spot criminal activity.
“When I first arrived [here], Depok was infamous for its robbers. I will adopt panic button app for android or iOS, and will launch it in December,” he said.
He said that the outskirts of Depok City have seen sharp rises in the crime rate. Following his appointment as Depok Police chief, Heriemen has held meetings and deployed personnel to tackle street crimes in the city.
“We have stepped up the preventive measures. Particularly for robbery and theft with violence,” he said.
Moreover, he said police will join hands with local communities to help with the implementation of the panic button information system.
