TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Golkar Party Chairman, Setya Novanto, officially serves as the House Of Representatives (DPR) Speaker. The entire fractions in the House at the plenary session earlier today, Nov. 30, have agreed with Golkar’s decision to remove Ade Komarudin from his position.
The House Deputy Speaker Fadli Zon, who lead the meeting, said that the chairman of the council had received a letter from Golkar Party Faction related to the turnover last week. According to him, the constitutional law on the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representative Council (DPD) and the People’s Regional Representative Council (DPRD), regulate that the House speaker's replacement must gain support from each faction.
The factions gave various respond following the Ade’s turnover into Setya. “We have let the final decision on the Speaker’s replacement, which was proposed by the Golkar Party, to the party's internal,” said Ario Bimo, a PDIP politician.
“Hopefully this will be the last turnover,” said the Gerindra Party spokesperson Supratman Andi Agtas.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party questions Golkar’s decision. “There were many of our constituents questioning it,” Benny Kabur Harman said. He thinks the House Speaker’s replacement seemed to be in a rush. “Is there an urgent matter?”
However, the plenary session had agreed to the replacement. The faction representatives of National Mandate Party (PAN), National Awakening Party (PKB), United Development Party (PPP), National Democratic Party (NasDem), and People's Conscience Party (Hanura) supported the decision.
Setya has immediately sworn in by the executive of Supreme Court Chief.
