TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian Navy aircraft with flight number U 623 TNI AL experienced an accident on the runway of Leo Wattimena Airport in Morotai Island District, Maluku on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
According to Commodore Gig Jonias Mozes Sipasulta, Chief of the Indonesian Navy Information Bureau, all passengers of the aircraft survived the incident and had received medical treatment from the Morotai military base medical team.
"Investigation is underway to find the cause of the incident," Sopasulta said in a phone interview with Tempo on Sunday 27, November, 2016.
According to Sipasulta, the incident started when the aircraft departed from Manado for Morotai, carrying a training command (Kolat) team for several competency tests.
The aircraft skidded off the runway and failed to land properly. “All passengers are safe, they are currently being treated by Morotai air base and naval base medical team,” Sipasulta said.
