TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Government said the private sectors that are participating in the vehicle road-worthiness (KIR) test will receive incentives, among others, is the tax reduction incentive set by the Ministry of Transportation.
“We don’t know the percentage yet, (it) will be discussed,” says the Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
Budi said that there will be a charge for the KIR test to contribute in the non-tax state revenue (PNBP). Although they expect a minimum charge. “If needed, there is no charge (for the KIR test) as the incentive,” he said.
Earlier, the Transportation Minister said that his office would involve the private sector and the sole agent (ATPM) in order to run a periodic vehicle test. The ministry believes that the private sector and ATPM are ready to run the periodic vehicle test. “It’s expected to be operational by December,” Budi said.
As for cars, especially for the commercial purpose, surely have to have a KIR test. “It (KIR test) will be conducted by the sole agent,” he said. “They produce it and they are also responsible for the KIR test. It is an integrated service." The integrated service, Budi said, also should relate to the car manufacturer’s brand image because it will ease the consumers.
Gaikindo Chairman Yohannes Nangoi said that they are ready to help the government in materializing the plan. “Even if there would be extra works; we’ll figure it out,” Yohanes said.
