TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially detained two suspects in alleged bribery, namely Directorate General of Tax official Handang Soekarno and PT Eka Prima Ekspor Indonesia director Rajesh Rajamohan Nair.
The KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha said they will both be detained for the next 20 days starting today. “Both will be detained in two separate prison,” Priharsa said via text message on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.
The anti-graft agency has arrested Handang and Rajesh at Springhill Residence, Kemayoran, Jakarta. Rajesh has allegedly paid Rp1.9 billion to Handang in relation to PT Eka Prima Ekspor Indonesia’s tax collection letter amounting to Rp78 billion.
Having been questioned for almost 24 hours, both suspects were immediately detained. At 8 pm, Handang left the KPK building wearing KPK’s orange inmate vest. Rajesh followed suit shortly after behind him. Both did not answer to the questions raised by reporters.
