TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Awi Setiyono said that he will summon Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) officials Rizieq Shihab and Munarman over the alleged insult to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo hurled by Ahmad Dhani, Indonesian famous musician.
"We will summon witnesses on November 24 in a case [involving] defendant Ahmad Dhani," Awi said via WhatsApp messenger on Monday evening, November 21, 2016.
Ahmad Dhani have allegedly hurled insults to the President during his speech at a massive rally on November 4 in front of the State Palace in Jakarta. Dhani had been reported to police by two organizations; Laskar Rakyat Joko Widodo (LRJ) and Pro Jokowi (Projo).
Protesters of the November 4 rally, which some called as 'Aksi Bela Islam II' (Act to Defend Islam II) demanded police to detain inactive Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama for alleged religious blasphemy. Ahok has recently been named as suspect in the case.
