TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of Human Resources and General Affairs of State Logistics Agency Bulog Wahyu Suparyono said that in general, Bulog still lacks warehouses to store rice supply.
"In implementing duties mandated by the state, we still lack warehouses to store rice,” Wahyu said in Kendari on Friday.
He added that to date, Bulog only has 1,550 warehouses scattered all over Indonesia with the total capacity of 3.9 million tons of rice.
"The capacity is not enough because in 2016, the government must store at least 4,000,000 tons of rice,” he said.
Therefore, Wahyu added, the agency is now trying to increase the number of warehouses or to build new buildings in a number of rice production centers in the country.
