TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday morning, Nov. 11,  visited the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Headquarters in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java.

Speaking in Brimob headquarters, Jokowi reiterated his appreciation for Brimob’s performance in guarding the November 4 rally. “Thank you for your hard work, solidity and professionalism,”he said.

The former Jakarta governor has called on Brimob to protect all Indonesians regardless of ethnicity, groups, and religion. “The children of the nation must be protected,” Jokowi said.

The President expects Indonesia to maintain security and order. Jokowi sees that conflict and dispute will only undermine Indonesia. Whereas Indonesia’s diversity have been applauded by other countries. “We want Indonesia to set an example of [respecting] diversity.”

He had met with the National Armed Forces (TNI) and Police corps in the past few days. On the National Heroes Day of November 10, Jokowi addressed the TNI and Police and expressed his appreciation for their hard work in relation to last week’s massive protest.

The President had also met two largest Muslim organizations in Indonesia the Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiah as well as other Muslim groups to hold a dialogue at the Merdeka Palace.
