TEMPO.CO, Depok - Depok Immigration office, West Java, has declined ten Indonesian passport applications in the last three months since the applicants have no clear purpose in applying one.
The head of Depok City Immigration Office Dudi Iskandar said that they were rejected because they did not provide clear destinations for their visit. Other than that, they do not have jobs. “Their data was questionable,” Dudi said on Thursday, November 10, 2016.
Dudi said some passport applicants with the Middle East as their destination were rejected. The immigration office rejected their applications in order to anticipate terrorist movements from Indonesia to the Middle Eastern conflict regions. “They said they wanted to study in the Middle East but their data was questionable, so we rejected it,” he said.
In addition, the majority of people applying for a passport is to work abroad without a clear procedure. The requests that are rejected often come from people that do not come from Depok and do not have families in the city. “They mostly live at boarding rooms in Depok. They have no clear reasons for applying for the passports,” he said.
