TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Donald Trump’s triumph in the United States presidential election has paved the way for further cooperation with the MNC Group. “We will see. If it’s beneficial to both parties, we will continue,” MNC Group corporate secretary Syafril Nasution told Tempo Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
The statement was made in relation to the possible development of a business project in Lido, Sukabumi, West Java. The project is agreed between MNC Group’s subsidiary PT MNC Land Tbk (KPIG) and Donald Trump. The cooperation involved the marketing of golf resort, villa/condominium, hotel and country club.
Syafril claimed that further talk on the project has yet to be held. “Not yet. We will focus on what we currently have,” he said.
Donald Trump has defeated Hillary Clinton in the United States presidential race. The Republican candidate garnered 274 electoral votes, exceeding the electoral threshold of 270. Whereas the Democratic candidate, Hillary, got 218 electoral votes.
The MNC Group shares have reacted positively to Trump’s win. The market sees that it will have a positive impact on MNC and Donald Trump relations in the future.
PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) shares closed 25 points or 1.28 percent higher at Rp1.975 per share. MNCN hit the highest price at Rp2,030 and the lowest at Rp1,900 per share.
Syafril, however, said that price hike in MNC shares has nothing to do with Donald Trump’s political campaign or vice versa. “Our business continues. What is happening in the State, has nothing to do with what’s going on in here,” he noted.
