TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu has met with Fiji Island's Minister of Defense and National Security Hon. Ratu Inoke Kubuabola to discuss improved cooperation on defense and counterterrorism.
“I have held talks with Fiji’s Defense Minister, the key point was to step up bilateral defense [cooperation] through an MoU, hopefully in March next year, which would enable us to hold [security] drills,” Ryamizard said at the Defense Ministry office in Jakarta after meeting with Fiji representatives.
He said that another issue being discussed was terrorism. Both countries have agreed to cooperate on anticipating ISIS terror.
Indonesia and Fiji also discussed the effort to bring regional and global peace.
Fiji Island's Minister of Defense and National Security Hon. Ratu Inoke Kubuabola said that the two countries are committed to stepping up defense cooperation.
He also said that they had planned to strengthen educational cooperation which would allow Fijian students to study in Indonesia.
