TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa reminded the public that drug dealers begin targeting Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) because they find it safer compared to big cities.
"The orientation has shifted. Areas around pesantren are targetted by drug dealers. That’s why we hope everyone is alert," Khofifah said in Sumenep, Madura, on Sunday (30/10).
The minister expects that such a shift is anticipated as soon as possible. She also reminded that a joint effort of the school and parents is imperative to address this issue.
Up to this point, there has not been any attention given from international organizations to this issue. They focus more on de-radicalization issue since radical movements are currently under the world’s spotlight, she explained.
