TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Ulema Council’s edict (Fatwa MUI) Defender National Movement Coordinator Munarman said that the rally to be staged at the Presidential Palace on Friday November 4 will still be held.
He claimed that 500,000 people from Islamic organizations will join the rally.
"All Islamic organizations will be there," he said on Sunday (30/10).
They will gather to have Friday prayer in Istiqlal Mosque and after that, they will march to the palace, Munarman said.
Munarman added the rally is held to urge President Jokowi to arrest Jakarta Governor Ahok since he has committed religious blasphemy and hence violated Criminal Code A Article 156.
Around 100 people have reported Ahok to the Police.
This rally is going to be their second movement.
In the first demonstration, the protesters claimed they will kill Ahok. In addition, in the website owned by FPI chief Rizieq Shihab, habibrizieq.com, the protesters are instructed to spend the night around the palace and they are asked to write a will prior to joining the rally.
In response to such situation, the Police will closely guard the rally.
