Rupiah Slips 0.22% as IDX Notes Rp678.93bn Foreign Net Sell

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah ended Thursday's trade, October 27 with a 29-point correction (0.22 percent). The exchange rate closed at Rp13,033 per US dollar after spending the day swaying between Rp13,007 and Rp13,055 per dollar.
The rupiah weakened as the US Dollar Index strengthened 0.02 percent to 98.648, over speculations that the Fed Rate will increase in December.
Bloomberg predicted a 73-percent chance of a Fed Fund rate hike ahead of the US central bank's meeting next month.
Meanwhile, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) saw foreign investors recording a net sell of Rp678.93 billion.
Throughout the day, foreign investors sold 2.68 billion units of shares worth some Rp2.74 trillion and purchased 1.21 billion units of shares for Rp2.06 trillion.
Today's transaction values totaled at Rp0.01 trillion for the 36.05 billion shares traded.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed with a 0.32-percent gain or up by 17.16 bps to 5,416.84.
The exchange floor today saw 538 stocks traded, with 118 posting price gains, 186 stocks suffering declines, and 234 unchanged.
