Indonesia Ranks 91st in Ease of Doing Business: World Bank

TEMPO.CO, Washington - World Bank’s most recent annual Doing Business report shows that Indonesia has broken a record by successfully doing seven business reforms within the past year.
“Indonesian government has done efforts to improve the quality of its business climate in the private sector, especially in the last three years,” said the World Bank's Country Director for Indonesia Rodrigo Chaves on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
Indonesia is included in the ten countries that have achieved the highest growth in the report of 2017 Doing Business: Equal Opportunity for All, released on Tuesday in Washington DC, United States. In the world ranking this year, Indonesia climbed 15 spots from 106 to the 91st position.
Chaves mentioned the seven business reforms conducted by Indonesia include the ease of starting a business, electricity installment process, registering property, claiming a loan, paying taxes, trading across borders, and contracts enforcement.
For example, in Jakarta and Surabaya, the power installment process in a warehouse is much quicker after extra supplies of power from the providers is added.
In Surabaya, electricity provider has also simplified the process of a new power installment request to only 58 days from 79 days last year.
“The ease of doing business will support business communities and individual to do business in any sector,” Chave said.
