TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Governor and deputy governor candidates-to-be Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Syaiful Hidayat have the highest electability rating, despite lower than they previously had, local pollster Skala Survei Indonesia said.
“It fell 13.3 percent compared to [Ahok’s electability rating] in February,” Skala Survey Indonesia executive director Abdul Hakim told a press conference in Central Jakarta on Sunday, October 23, 2016.
Abdul Hakim noted that in October’s poll Ahok-Djarot pairing have 33.8 percent electability rating, compared to 47.1 percent in that of February.
He attributed the dip in electability rating to Jakarta voters’ dynamic choice of gubernatorial candidate. “A week before the survey, Agus-Sylvi stood in third place, they are now in second place,” Abdul said.
The poll also shows that Ahok-Djarot’s electability rating had stagnated at 33 percent. Whereas their competitors’ electability rating could grow further. “It can be seen in our simulation,” Abdul said. Agus Harimurti and Sylviana Murni pairing garnered 19.6 percent while Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno had 18.8 percent.
Abdul explained that when the three pairings compete against each other, Ahok-Djarot has 33.8 percent electability rating. Whereas in a simulation of two-round elections, Ahok-Djarot will still hover around 33 percent.
Skala Survey Indonesia conducted the poll on October 6-11, 2016.
